What is Economic Development?
Economic development is primarily about raising the standard of living of our people. It is essential for the wellbeing of our community and underpins all our social and cultural aspirations.
Economic development enables jobs for our young people (so they don't have to move away), a good cup of coffee when you need a rest from cycling the rail trail, thriving local communities, good schools, the talent needed to support industry, and the ability to facilitate opportunities for the community around sport and leisure – e.g. the local drama society or rugby team.
